Girls with Gifts
The series W.I.T.C.H. is about Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin. They live an ordinary life centred on their school life and their leisure time, but they also have a supernatural power each. These are fantasy books aimed specifically at girls. The first nine books were written by Lene Kaaberbøl (Dk). I was asked to participate in a joint Nordic project together with Cecilie Eken (Dk), Josefine Ottesen (Dk) and Ruben Eliassen (No). We were each to write a new book set in the world of these girls. As the girls already “existed”, with ready-made personalities and families, it was more like writing an episode of a TV series. The result was more than one book each. The books are translated and published in many countries, amongst them, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Rumania, Hungary and China.
